The Sardinian Flycatcher (Muscicapa tyrrhenica) is a small migratory bird species belonging to the family Muscicapidae. It is known for its distinctive dark plumage, with males displaying a glossy black head, back, and wings, while the females have a more subdued brownish-gray coloring. These birds are primarily insectivorous, catching prey on the wing or by hawking from a perch. They breed in open woodlands, often near water, and are found in the Mediterranean region, particularly on the islands of Sardinia and Corsica. During the winter, they migrate to sub-Saharan Africa. The Sardinian Flycatcher is currently classified as Least Concern by the IUCN, with stable populations and no major threats identified.
