Satin Flycatcher

Myiagra pluto

The Satin Flycatcher (Myiagra pluto) is a small, insectivorous bird found in Australia and nearby islands. Males have glossy black plumage with a striking blue sheen on the head, back, and wings, while females are predominantly gray with a lighter underside. These agile birds are often found in open woodlands, forests, and along watercourses, where they perch and sally to catch flying insects. They are known for their distinctive whistling calls and aerial acrobatics during courtship displays. The Satin Flycatcher is a migratory species, breeding in Australia during the summer and migrating to New Guinea and nearby islands during the non-breeding season.
