Satin Flycatcher

Mino anais

The Satin Flycatcher (Mino anais) is a small passerine bird found in the forests and woodlands of New Guinea and nearby islands. It is known for its glossy black plumage with striking white wing patches in males, while females have a more subdued grayish-brown coloration. These birds are insectivorous and are often seen perching in the mid-story or canopy, sallying out to catch flying insects. Satin Flycatchers are known for their melodious and varied calls, especially during the breeding season. Although not currently considered threatened, they may face habitat loss and degradation due to deforestation.
