Thamnomanes saturninus
The Saturnine Antshrike is a medium-sized bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with the male having a black head and back, and the female having a rufous-brown head. They are skilled insect hunters, foraging in the dense undergrowth and lower canopy for their prey. Their loud and melodious songs can often be heard echoing through the forest. These antshrikes are typically found in the dense understory of humid forests, where they prefer areas with thick vegetation and tangled vines. They are known to inhabit lowland and foothill forests, as well as secondary growth and forest edges.
