Saunders's Gull

Saundersilarus saundersi (Swinhoe, 1871)

Saunders's Gull, Saundersilarus saundersi, is a gull of the family Laridae that breeds along the coast from Liaoning to Jiangsu in eastern China and at Songdo in north-west South Korea. Outside the breeding season it ranges along the coasts of the East China Sea from Japan and the Korean Peninsula to Taiwan, and south through the northern South China Sea to northern Vietnam. It is a distinctive member of its group, placed in the monotypic genus Saundersilarus. The species was described by Swinhoe in 1871.
