Ampelioides tschudii (Gray, GR, 1846)

Scaled Fruiteater, Ampelioides tschudii, is a bird of the Andean forests of South America, breeding from western Venezuela to Bolivia. It belongs to the cotinga family and is the only species placed in Ampelioides. It lives in high-elevation tropical forest, usually in dense growth below the canopy and often close to streams or other water. Its olive-green plumage is marked with fine scaling on the chest and belly, and males have an all-black head, richer green body plumage and a longer tail than females.
