Scaled Spinetail

Cranioleuca muelleri (Hellmayr, 1911)

Scaled Spinetail, Cranioleuca muelleri, is a bird of the eastern Amazon in Brazil, where it lives in flooded tropical forest, especially várzea and other seasonally inundated swamplands. It is a Furnariidae species of the undergrowth and midstory, and it is also found in the lower Amazon region. Its plumage is dark overall, with a pale eyebrow, brown upperparts and a rufous crown, wings and tail. The underparts show a scaly look, and the tail is graduated with stiffened bases and pointed tips.
