Actenoides princeps (Reichenbach, 1851)
Scaly-breasted Kingfisher, Actenoides princeps, is a bird of Sulawesi in Indonesia, where it lives in moist montane forest. It is part of the kingfisher family and was described by Reichenbach in 1851. The species is tied to dense understorey in undisturbed primary forest, including sites in the Gunung Ambang Nature Reserve on the Minahassa Peninsula. It is known from the northeast, northwest and central parts of the island, while the southeastern form is now treated as a separate species. Its call is a series of mournful whistles, most often heard around dawn.
