Scaly-breasted Lorikeet

Trichoglossus chlorolepidotus

The Scaly-breasted Lorikeet, also known as the Greenie, is a colorful parrot species native to Australia. It is characterized by its vibrant green plumage with yellow and red markings on the chest and head. These social birds are often found in small flocks and are known for their playful and acrobatic behaviors. They primarily feed on nectar, pollen, and fruits, using their specialized brush-tipped tongues to extract the nectar from flowers. The Scaly-breasted Lorikeet nests in tree hollows and is known for its loud and distinctive calls. Due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, this species faces conservation challenges.
