Indicatoridae — Honeyguides

Scaly-throated Honeyguide, Indicator variegatus, is a bird of the honeyguide family that breeds across eastern and southern Africa, from Ethiopia and Somalia to south-eastern South Africa, with further populations west through southern DR Congo and Zambia to western Angola. It is a brood parasite, using the nests of green barbets, black-collared barbets, Whyte’s barbets, yellow-rumped tinkerbirds, Nubian woodpeckers, golden-tailed woodpeckers, African grey woodpeckers, cardinal woodpeckers and olive woodpeckers. It was described by Lesson in 1830.
