Scaly-throated Leaftosser Sclerurus guatemalensis is a passerine of the ovenbird family, found in Middle America and South America from southern Mexico to Colombia and western Ecuador. It lives in humid lowland evergreen forest, especially primary forest with a closed canopy and little undergrowth, and also occurs in mature secondary forest and montane evergreen forest. In Ecuador it is also recorded in lowland cloudforest. It is a year-round resident. Its throat has whitish feathers edged darkly, creating the scaly look that gives the bird its name.
