The Sclater's Crowned Pigeon (Gymnophaps stalkeri) is a large, ground-dwelling bird native to the rainforests of New Guinea. It is known for its striking appearance, with a prominent blue-grey crown and chestnut-colored body. These pigeons are primarily frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits found in their forest habitat. They are known for their distinct and resonant calls, often heard echoing through the dense foliage. Sclater's Crowned Pigeon plays an important role in the ecosystem as seed dispersers. Due to habitat loss and hunting, they are classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
