Sclater's Lark

Doliornis sclateri

Sclater's Lark (Doliornis sclateri) is a small passerine bird found in the high-altitude grasslands of the Andes in South America. It is known for its distinctive song and aerial displays during courtship. This lark has a cryptic plumage that provides camouflage in its open grassland habitat. It forages for seeds and insects on the ground, using its long, slender bill to probe the soil. Sclater's Lark is a monogamous species, and pairs build cup-shaped nests on the ground, often concealed by vegetation. Despite its localized distribution, the species is not currently considered threatened.
