Sclater's penguin

Eudyptes sclateri

Sclater's penguin, also known as the northern rockhopper penguin, is a small to medium-sized penguin species found in the southern Indian and Atlantic Oceans. They are easily recognized by their distinctive spiky yellow and black crest feathers and bright red eyes. These penguins are highly social and breed in large colonies on remote islands, using rocky cliffs and slopes as nesting sites. They primarily feed on small fish and squid, foraging in the rich marine waters near their breeding grounds. Sclater's penguins are facing population declines due to overfishing, pollution, and habitat degradation, leading to their classification as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
