Ficedula semitorquata (Homeyer, 1885)

Semicollared Flycatcher, Ficedula semitorquata, breeds from Greece to Azerbaijan and Iraq and spends the non-breeding season in eastern and central Africa. It is a passerine in the Muscicapidae family, first described by Homeyer in 1885. In the breeding season it uses mountain deciduous woodland, especially stands of oak and hornbeam. The species nests in natural tree cavities and old woodpecker holes, and it will also use nest-boxes. Its breeding male shows a white half-collar, a prominent white wing patch and a white forehead patch, with black upperparts and white underparts.
