This bird is known for its loud and repetitive call, which is often heard in the dense vegetation of its habitat. The Senegal Coucal is a ground-dwelling bird that forages for insects, small mammals, and reptiles. It builds its nest in thick bushes or low trees, where it lays its eggs and raises its young.
