Seram white-eye

Zosterops hypoxanthus

The Seram white-eye (Zosterops hypoxanthus) is a small passerine bird found in the forests and woodlands of Seram, Indonesia. It has a distinctive white eye-ring and olive-green upperparts, with a yellowish underbelly. This species is known for its melodious and varied songs, often heard during the breeding season. The Seram white-eye forages for insects and nectar in the forest canopy, and is an important seed disperser for many plant species. Although not currently classified by the IUCN, the Seram white-eye is likely vulnerable to habitat loss and degradation due to deforestation and human activities.
