Sernai's gnatcatcher

Thryophilus sernai

Sernai's gnatcatcher (Thryophilus sernai) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the dry forests and scrublands of western Mexico. This species is known for its distinctive blue-gray plumage, white underparts, and long tail. Sernai's gnatcatcher is an active and agile bird, often seen flitting through the foliage in search of small insects and spiders. It builds its cup-shaped nest in thorny shrubs or small trees, where it lays a clutch of eggs. The conservation status of Sernai's gnatcatcher is currently listed as Data Deficient by the IUCN, and more research is needed to assess its population and threats.
