Seychelles Blue Pigeon

The Seychelles Blue Pigeon, scientifically known as Nesoenas picturatus, is a species of pigeon endemic to the Seychelles archipelago in the Indian Ocean. It is a medium-sized pigeon with a distinct bluish-gray plumage, a white belly, and a conspicuous red bill. These pigeons are known for their gentle cooing calls and are often found in the dense forests of the islands, where they feed on fruits, seeds, and small invertebrates. The Seychelles Blue Pigeon plays a vital role in seed dispersal and contributes to the ecological balance of its habitat. Due to habitat loss and predation by invasive species, the conservation status of this species is categorized as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
