Seychelles Magpie-Robin

Copsychus sechellarum

The Seychelles Magpie-Robin is a small, critically endangered songbird endemic to the Seychelles archipelago. It has a distinctive black and white plumage, with a long tail and a slender bill. These birds are known for their melodious songs and agile foraging behavior. They inhabit dense forests and shrublands, where they feed on insects, fruits, and small reptiles. Due to habitat loss and introduced predators, the population of Seychelles Magpie-Robins has declined drastically, leading to their critically endangered status. Conservation efforts are underway to protect their remaining habitat and establish breeding programs to ensure their survival.
