Seychelles Sunbird

Anthreptes rhodolaemus

The Seychelles Sunbird (Anthreptes rhodolaemus) is a small passerine bird native to the Seychelles archipelago in the Indian Ocean. This sunbird is known for its distinctive long, curved bill and iridescent plumage, with the male displaying vibrant metallic green and blue colors, while the female has more subdued plumage. These birds are nectar feeders and play an important role in pollination within their island habitat. They are often observed darting among flowers and foliage in search of nectar and small insects. The Seychelles Sunbird is considered vulnerable due to habitat loss and introduced predators.
