Sharp-billed Canastero

Asthenes pyrrholeuca

The Sharp-billed Canastero is a small bird found in the Andes of South America. It has a distinctive sharp and slightly down-curved bill, which it uses to forage for insects and spiders in the dense undergrowth of its montane forest habitat. This species is often observed hopping on the ground or perched on low branches. The plumage is primarily brown with subtle streaking, providing excellent camouflage in its environment. The Sharp-billed Canastero is known for its melodious and repetitive song, which is an important part of the soundscape in its range.
