Sharpbill, Oxyruncus cristatus, is a passerine found across South America, where it breeds widely. It belongs in the family Oxyruncidae and was described by Swainson in 1821. The bird is set apart by its straight, pointed bill, which gives it its name. It also shows an orange crest that can be raised, along with yellowish underparts marked with black spots and patterned head and neck plumage. It lives in wet forest canopy, especially in tall, dense woodland, and may also appear at the forest edge.
