Sharpe's Akalat, also known as Smithornis sharpei, is a species of bird found in the forests of East Africa. This small to medium-sized bird is known for its distinctive plumage and melodious song. The upperparts are olive-brown with a rufous crown and a blackish tail. The underparts are pale with a buffy throat and breast. Sharpe's Akalat forages on the forest floor for insects and small invertebrates. It is often found in dense undergrowth and thickets, where it can be secretive and difficult to spot. The species is known for its beautiful and varied vocalizations, which are an important part of its breeding behavior.
