It is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with a striking pied pattern on its body. These birds are highly gregarious and form cooperative breeding groups, with individuals working together to build nests and raise young. They forage for insects and small invertebrates on the ground, using their sharp bills to probe through leaf litter.
