Shelley's Crimsonwing

Cryptospiza shelleyi

Shelley's Crimsonwing is a small passerine bird found in the highland forests of eastern Africa. It is known for its striking crimson plumage on the male, while the female has more subdued colors. These birds are often found in small flocks, foraging for seeds, insects, and berries in the undergrowth. They have a melodious song and are known for their elaborate courtship displays. Due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, their populations are declining in some areas.
