Shining-blue Kingfisher, Alcedo quadribrachys, is a kingfisher in the family Alcedinidae that breeds in central and western Africa. It was described by Bonaparte in 1850 and given its current scientific name then. The species occurs in tropical Africa, with one form ranging from Senegal and Gambia to west central Nigeria, and another from southern Nigeria to Kenya, north-west Zambia and north Angola. It belongs to the genus Alcedo, which includes eight species, and its closest relative is the half-collared kingfisher.
