Cyanerpes lucidus
The Shining Honeycreeper is a small, brightly colored bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. Males are a brilliant iridescent blue with black wings and tail, while females are mostly green with a bluish tinge on the head and upperparts. They have a slender, slightly curved bill adapted for feeding on nectar, fruit, and insects. These social birds are often seen in small groups foraging in the canopy. Their melodious, high-pitched calls are a common sound in their forest habitats.
