Short-billed Gull

Larus brachyrhynchus

The Short-billed Gull, scientifically known as Larus brachyrhynchus, is a medium-sized gull found in North America. It has a white body with gray wings and back, and a short, stout bill. During the breeding season, its head is streaked with brown. This gull is often found in coastal areas, including beaches, estuaries, and marshes. It is an opportunistic feeder, consuming a variety of fish, invertebrates, and scavenging for human refuse. Short-billed Gulls are known for their distinctive calls and are often seen in large flocks. While their populations are currently stable, they face threats from habitat loss and pollution.
