Short-tailed Emerald, Chlorostilbon poortmani, is a hummingbird of South America, breeding in Colombia and north-west Venezuela. It belongs to the family Trochilidae in the order Apodiformes. The bird is known for its short, forked tail, and the male and female differ in plumage. The nominate form and C. p. euchloris are recognised, with euchloris slightly larger and showing a golden wash on the crown and underparts. It lives in humid forest, open woodland, secondary growth, plantations and tree-dotted pasture, usually at mid to high elevations.
