Chaetura brachyura (Jardine, 1846)

Short-tailed Swift, Chaetura brachyura, is a swift of the family Apodidae that breeds in Middle America and South America, from Panama through Amazonia. It was first described by Jardine in 1846. In its range it is a familiar bird of Trinidad, Tobago, Grenada and Saint Vincent, and it also occurs across tropical South America. It is a small swift with long, narrow wings, a sturdy body and a short tail. The sexes look alike. Its dark plumage is broken by a pale rump, and the tail is not strongly set off from the rump.
