The Short-tailed Synallaxis is a small, secretive bird found in South America. It has a distinctive short tail and a rufous-colored throat and breast. The upperparts are olive-brown with a buffy belly. This species is often found in dense undergrowth and bamboo thickets where it forages for insects and small invertebrates. It is known for its rapid, skulking movements and can be difficult to observe. The Short-tailed Synallaxis is typically found in humid montane forests and cloud forests, but it may also occur in secondary growth and shrubby areas.
