Siberian Thrush

Geokichla sibirica (Pallas, 1776)

Siberian Thrush, Geokichla sibirica, is a thrush of the Palearctic east, breeding in Siberian taiga and spending the non-breeding season in south-eastern Asia. It belongs to the family Turdidae and was described by Pallas in 1776. Both sexes show a black band across the white underwings in flight, a useful field mark it shares with the scaly thrush. The male has a dark blue-grey upper and underparts, a white stripe above the eye, and white on the lower belly and flanks. The female is browner, with a buff stripe above the eye.
