Siberian Thrush

Geokichla peronii

The Siberian Thrush (Geokichla peronii) is a medium-sized thrush found in the forests and woodlands of Siberia and parts of East Asia. This migratory bird is known for its striking appearance, with a slate-grey back, white underparts, and a distinctive orange-buff wash on its flanks. During the breeding season, the male Siberian Thrush sings a melodious and fluty song to attract a mate. This species primarily feeds on insects, berries, and fruits, foraging on the forest floor and in the lower vegetation. The Siberian Thrush plays a vital role in forest ecosystems as a seed disperser and insect predator.
