Sibilant Sirystes Sirystes sibilator is a passerine of the Tyrannidae family in eastern and south-eastern South America, from Brazil through eastern Paraguay to north-eastern Argentina. It was first described by Vieillot in 1818. The bird is tied to forested country, including primary forest, older secondary woodland, river-edge forest and dry cerradão, and it usually stays in the canopy. In Brazil it reaches at least 1,000 m and may occur as high as 1,400 m. The nominate form has the wider range, while S. s. atimastus is known only from the Chapada dos Guimarães area in Mato Grosso.
