Aegithalos iouschistos

The Sichuan Bushtit, scientifically known as Aegithalos iouschistos, is a small passerine bird native to the mountainous regions of central China. It is characterized by its distinctive plumage, with a combination of gray, brown, and white feathers. These sociable birds are often found in mixed-species foraging flocks, where they flit agilely through the canopy in search of insects and small invertebrates. The Sichuan Bushtit is known for its intricate hanging nests, constructed from moss, lichen, and spider silk. These nests are often found in broadleaf forests and bamboo thickets. Despite facing habitat loss and fragmentation, the conservation status of the Sichuan Bushtit is currently categorized as Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
