Sichuan Partridge, Arborophila rufipectus, is a galliform bird of the Phasianidae family that breeds in south China, especially southern Sichuan and parts of northern Yunnan. It was described by Boulton in 1932. It lives in temperate broadleaf forest, including older secondary woodland, and is also recorded in scrub. It favours dense cover with a more open lower layer, thick shrubs for roosting, and places away from direct human disturbance. In Laojunshan Nature Reserve it was found in secondary forest, not in settlements, conifer plantations or farmland, and usually between 1400 and 1800m near water.
