Sickle-winged Chat, Emarginata sinuata, is a bird of southern Africa, breeding in South Africa, Lesotho, southernmost Botswana and southernmost Namibia. It is found in Karoo scrub, short grassland, and in bare sandy or stony places, and it also occurs on farmland in western coastal areas. The species is marked by dark grey upperparts, brown wings, a rufous patch behind the eye, buff-pink tail and rump, and a black wedge at the tail tip. The sexes look alike, while young birds show buff tips to the feathers.
