Sierra Madre Sparrow, Xenospiza baileyi, is a passerine of the New World sparrow family that breeds in central Mexico. It is the only member of Xenospiza and is tied to mountain grassland and marshy zacatonal in volcanic ranges of the Sierra Madre Occidental. The bird was described by Bangs in 1931. Its breeding sites lie in bunchgrass habitat at high elevations, with the lower part of the range used by the northern population and the higher part by the southern one. Its habitat is being cleared for pasture, and the species is under severe pressure.
