Heterophasia gracilis
The Sikkim whistling thrush is a medium-sized bird found in the eastern Himalayas. It is known for its distinctive whistling calls that echo through the dense forests where it resides. This species has a striking appearance, with deep blue plumage that contrasts with its bright yellow bill. The Sikkim whistling thrush is primarily insectivorous, foraging along streams and in damp, mossy areas. It is often observed perched on rocks or branches near water sources. Due to habitat loss and disturbance, the population of this species is declining, and it is considered vulnerable to extinction.
