Silver-throated Jay

Zeledonia coronata

The Silver-throated Jay is a striking bird with a glossy black plumage, a distinctive silver throat, and bright blue markings on its wings. This species is native to the cloud forests of Costa Rica and Panama, where it is known for its raucous calls and social behavior. Silver-throated Jays are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates. They are often found in mixed-species flocks and play a key role in seed dispersal within their habitat. Despite their vibrant appearance, these jays are often elusive and difficult to observe due to their preference for dense vegetation.
