Silverbird

Empidornis semipartitus (Rüppell, 1840)

Silverbird, Empidornis semipartitus, is an Old World flycatcher found in Africa from western Sudan to western Kenya and northern Tanzania. It is the sole species in Empidornis, though it is sometimes placed in Melaenornis. In open country west of the Rift Valley, adults are noted for their silvery grey upperparts and tawny orange underparts. Young birds show tawny spotting edged in black on the upperparts, with mottled buff and black on the throat and breast. It was described by Rüppell in 1840.
