Zosterops lateralis
The Silvereye, also known as the wax-eye, is a small and active passerine bird native to Australia, New Zealand, and the southwest Pacific islands. It is characterized by its olive-green upperparts, white underparts, and a conspicuous white ring around the eye. The Silvereye is an adaptable and sociable bird, often found in a variety of habitats including forests, gardens, and urban areas. It feeds on insects, fruits, and nectar, and is known for its acrobatic foraging behavior. Despite habitat loss and predation by introduced species, the Silvereye is currently not considered to be at risk and is classified as a species of Least Concern by the IUCN.
