Silvery-fronted Tapaculo

Scytalopus argentifrons

The Silvery-fronted Tapaculo is a small, secretive bird found in the Andes of South America. It is known for its distinctive vocalizations and is often found in dense undergrowth and mossy forests. This species has a dark plumage with a silvery-gray forehead and a short tail. It forages on the ground for insects and small invertebrates, using its strong legs and sharp bill to probe through leaf litter. The Silvery-fronted Tapaculo is an important indicator of the health of its montane forest habitat, and its conservation status is of concern due to habitat loss and fragmentation.
