Silvery-throated Jay

Cyanolyca argentigula (Lawrence, 1875)

Silvery-throated Jay, Cyanolyca argentigula, is a bird of Middle America, breeding in Costa Rica and Panama and belonging to the crow and jay family. It is a resident species in montane evergreen forest and oak forest, using both interior woodland and forest margins. Its range is split between central Costa Rica and western Panama, with a separate population in the Cordillera Central of Costa Rica and another in the Cordillera de Talamanca. It is best recognised by the pale throat and upper breast, together with the light band running across the forecrown and behind the eye.
