Sind sparrow

Passer pyrrhonotus

The Sind sparrow (Passer pyrrhonotus) is a small bird species found in the arid regions of southwestern Asia, particularly in Pakistan and northwestern India. This sparrow is known for its distinctive reddish-brown plumage on the head and upperparts, with a contrasting greyish-white underbelly. It has a short, stout beak adapted for feeding on seeds and grains. The Sind sparrow is often found in open, dry habitats such as desert scrubland, agricultural fields, and urban areas. It forms small flocks and nests in cavities or crevices. Despite facing some habitat loss and localized threats, the conservation status of the Sind sparrow is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
