Cisticola cherina

The Singing Cisticola (Cisticola cherina) is a small, insectivorous bird found in sub-Saharan Africa. It is known for its melodious and repetitive song, which is often heard in grasslands, savannas, and agricultural areas. This species is distinguished by its streaked brown plumage, short tail, and slightly curved bill. Singing Cisticolas are highly adaptable and can be found in a variety of open habitats, including wetlands and marshes. They are often observed perched on tall grass stalks, singing and performing aerial displays during the breeding season. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and agricultural intensification, the conservation status of the Singing Cisticola is currently categorized as Least Concern by the IUCN.
