Singular Xenops

Xenerpestes singularis

The Singular Xenops is a small bird native to the forests of South America. It is known for its distinctive behavior of moving vertically along tree trunks and branches in search of insects and small invertebrates. This species has a unique curved bill that aids in its foraging habits. The plumage of the Singular Xenops is primarily brown and gray, providing excellent camouflage in its forest habitat. These birds are often found in tropical and subtropical moist lowland forests, as well as montane forests. Due to habitat loss and deforestation, the conservation status of the Singular Xenops is currently listed as Near Threatened.
