Slate-colored Coot

The Slate-colored Coot is a medium-sized waterbird found in South America. It has a distinctive slate-gray plumage with a white bill and frontal shield. These coots are often found in freshwater marshes, lakes, and lagoons, where they feed on aquatic plants and small invertebrates. They are known for their strong swimming abilities and are often seen in small groups or pairs. The species is known for its loud and repetitive calls during the breeding season. Although not currently classified, the Slate-colored Coot faces threats from habitat loss and degradation.
