Slaty-backed Thrush

Geokichla schistacea

The Slaty-backed Thrush, scientifically known as Geokichla schistacea, is a medium-sized thrush found in the mountainous regions of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its slate-gray back, pale underparts, and distinctive eye ring. This species is known for its melodious and flute-like song, often heard echoing through the dense forests where it resides. Slaty-backed Thrushes are primarily insectivorous, foraging on the forest floor for invertebrates and occasionally feeding on berries and fruits. They are generally shy and elusive, preferring the cover of dense vegetation. Despite their relatively wide distribution, their population trend is unknown, and further research is needed to assess their conservation status.
